Twisters Name Washington Head Coach

by UFL Staff

LITTLE ROCK, AR-- The Arkansas Twisters are proud to name Jamie Washington as the team's new Head Football Coach. This decision was made after a thorough search and evaluation process in which the team officials considered a wide range of potential candidates—but decided Coach Washington's connection to the local community and leadership skills made him the best coach for the job.

Coach Washington begins his first season as the Arkansas Twisters head coach after spending 30 years coaching football at the high school and semi-pro level. As a defensive coordinator, Washington guided the Arkansas Sabers to a conference championship in 2013. Before the Arkansas Sabers, Washington was the head coach and defensive coordinator of the Arkansas Rhinos, which boasted the number 1 ranked defense in the league and made a second-round playoff appearance.

Before the Arkansas Rhinos, Washington served as defensive coordinator at several Arkansas high schools, such as J.A. Fair, Eudora, and Brinkley. In Eudora, Washington coached All-Conference and All-State selection Danny Snyder at MLB. Under his tutelage, Snyder went on to earn a full athletic scholarship at Mississippi State University. Eudora also made the playoffs for the first time in 10 years.

A native of Brinkley, Arkansas, Washington attended Brinkley high school, where he lettered in football. He went on to Arkansas Baptist College, where he played basketball. He then transferred to Henderson State University, earning a bachelor's degree in physical education.

Twisters Season Tickets are currently on sale, with prices starting at $200 for a nine-home game package.
