Pioneers Name Cross Head Coach

PITTSBURGH, PA-- The Pittsburgh Pioneers are proud to name Adam Cross as the team's first Head Football Coach. This decision was made after a thorough search and evaluation process in which the team officials considered a wide range of potential candidates—but decided Coach Cross's wealth of experience in personnel management and a proven track record of success on and off the field, which were critical factors that were too good to pass up.

Adam Cross joins the Pittsburgh Pioneers Football organization as Head Coach for the 2023 season. Cross comes to the Pioneers from 5A's Moon Area High School, where he served multiple roles as running backs coach, assistant special teams coach, assistant offensive coordinator, and team strength & conditioning coach under Head Coach Ryan Linn. Prior to coaching at Moon, Cross has over ten years of coaching experience in AAU baseball, basketball, and football from 2012 - 2022. Cross has led and assisted multiple championship teams throughout his tenure. 

All while coaching, Cross founded the fitness concept 3Minute Fitness (3MF) in 2015. 3MF is a strength, speed & agility fitness studio designed for athletes of all ages. Over the past seven years, Cross has led a team of over 40 employees and has served over 7,000 members in a span of 1500 fitness classes. 3MF was awarded #1 in Pittsburgh in 2019 and plans to expand in 2023. 3MF studios can be located in Moon Township and Southside Works Pittsburgh, PA. 

Cross played collegiately as a free safety at Geneva College in 1997, where the Tornadoes boasted an 11-2 record and finished the season winning the Victory Bowl Championship in Canton, Ohio, at Hall of Fame Fawcett Stadium. After completing a successful football playing career, Cross continued his education at Seton Hill University, graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Biology & Psychology. 

Cross was a two-year letter earner and played high school football as a running back, receiver, and linebacker at 3A Beaver Area High School from 1993-1995. Cross helped lead the Bobcats and Head Coach legend Pat Tarquinio to his 250th career win in his senior year. Cross finished his high school career receiving an honorable mention WPIAL award.
