Kapitals Name Pettengill Head Coach

Kansas City, MO -- The Kansas City Kapitals, one of the country's leading professional spring football teams, have named Mick Pettengill as their new Head Coach. Pettengill brings a wealth of experience to the Kapitals and is widely regarded as one of the most innovative coaches in the sport.

Coach Pettengill brings over 20 years of coaching experience to the Kansas City Kapitals. Coach Pettengill spent the last six seasons as the head coach, associate head coach, and offensive coordinator with the Yuba College 49ers in Marysville, Calif. Coach Pettengill spent 12 seasons in various roles at Yuba College, coaching four junior college All-American players, playing in six bowl appearances, and achieving five league titles and one conference title.  

Coach Pettengill also spent time as the head football coach of four high schools in Northern California in and around the Sacramento area. He previously worked with the United Football League as game day operations manager for the Sacramento Mountain Lions. 

Coach Pettengill played collegiately at Butte College and Washburn University. After graduating from Sacramento State University, Coach Pettengill served eight years on active duty in the U.S. Army. He served as an officer in both the field artillery and military police corps. While in the service, he was stationed at Ft. Campbell, Ft. Belvoir, Ft. Bragg, and Ft. Irwin.  

Coach Pettengill is originally from Sacramento, Calif. After leaving the service, he and his wife settled in Yuba City, Calif., to raise their family. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in history from Sacramento State University and has a master's degree in sports management from the United States Sports Academy.

Coach Pettengill has been married to Jana Pettengill (née Crowhurst) for over 30 years, and they have three children together. 

Pettengill is a highly-respected coach known for his innovative strategies and ability to bring out the best in his players. He has a keen eye for talent and has a proven track record of developing young players into star performers. Pettengill's leadership and guidance will be instrumental in helping the Kapitals create a tradition of success and in bringing a championship to Kansas City.
